Have you ever been to the verdant forests crammed with clouds that seem so close you can even touch them? Yet, you won’t feel a sense of gloom and misery surrounded by white and gray clouds! Rather you will be thrilled in the wonder lands. It is most interesting when you spend a calm night in your tent and wake up to embrace closest white clouds.

Clouds Forest in Shahrood, a pristine, fresh land is spread out 45 km north of the city, Semnan Province. It lies near a village carrying the same name.

With a nice, pleasant climate, the 35-thousand-hectare forest comes among the first in the country, and even the world, thanks to its ancient Hircani plantations and medicinal herbs, unmatched ecotone_ where you can see both pointed-leafed trees alongside broad-leafed trees_ and the unique geography of the area where low and high-lying lands are seen together. The great phenomenon of clouds formation inside the fertile land has caused many sightseers to come and visit.

After going through the delightful gardens of Bastaam, reminding you of the famous mystic Bayazid Bastaami, you can see forests expanding on distant mountains alongside the 4,000-m Shahvar peak.

On your trail, you will view copious pretty landscapes which are worth tens of photos. The scenes you shouldn’t miss are the charming sunrise and sunset through plenty of clouds. You might want to have some clicks to record the beautiful scenery.

Hiking and biking are among the highlighted activities. Mesmerized by the enchanting beauty of intertwined trees and mountains backdrop, you won’t feel how time is going by. However, come prepared as your hike might take several hours.

One nice thing to do here is camping; you will observe colorful tents stretched around the place; families adore to have a nice trip in the forest over the weekend.

A popular spot for nature lovers, the green lands never seem to fail to satisfy the sightseers; colorful foliage in autumn, intermingled green tall trees in spring and summertime and naked trees in winter make for a dreamy, memorable journey you can ever imagine in your lifetime.

Avoid visiting the forest on your own; best recommendation is to go with a guide if you are a first timer. Take necessary equipment for safe climbing and rambling. Having a torch is a must as the wildlife here is rich and sometimes you can’t notice them due to dense fog.  Cellphones with GPS are also suggested.
