Founded in the early 1970s as the Kuwait Travel Bureau, the company has always catered to corporate and individual travel. In 1995, when several of Kuwait’s leading business owners, including M.H. Alshaya, were searching for a travel agency that could provide the services they most desired, the consortium acquired KTB and renamed it Jumbo Tour & Travel Company WLL.
In 2007, Jumbo Travel aligned with Netherlands-based BCD Travel, the world’s third largest travel management firm specializing in travel and financial services industries across the globe.
Jumbo Group of companies was fully acquired in 2009 by reputable heavywieghts Alshaya Group, which is the manager of the most dynamic and successful retail operations in the Middle East, Turkey, Russia and Eastern Europe.
